Count on us Mr. President

13th October 2019 goes down in the history books of Ghana Sumatra Limited and Oil Palm Research Institute(OPRI) of Ghana and Kusiman, as the day the President of the Republic of Ghana His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo paid a working visit to these two very important facilities.

As a matter of fact, this happens to be the first time a sitting president ever visited any research facility belonging to the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research(CSIR) in Ghana . Representatives from all other institutes of the CSIR were here in Kusi land on this day.

What was Mr. President's mission? To inspect and see Ghana Sumatra Limited's high quality oil palm seed production facility. To see OPRI coconut seedling production.

Oil palm and coconut are two of six crops selected for the Planting for Export and Rural Development(PERD) program in Ghana. It is estimated that any one of these six crops will inject a net revenue of $2billion annually into the Ghanaian economy from year 2024. An agenda for Ghana's rural industrialisation drive under the flagship of the current Government.

No wonder the president of the nation was here in Kusi land in Denkyembour(Diamond) District to have first hand information on operations of OPRI and its privately owned iso certified company GSL and to know their challenges. Management and staff of Ghana Sumatra Limited wish to assure Mr. President and the whole nation that GSL is fully committed to ensure the success of the PERD program.

Count on us Mr. President.
